Howe Military Academy is a co-educational private American middle school and high school organized under a military-like structure. It was founded by Elias Howe inventor of the sewing machine, in 1884, in Howe, Indiana. It serves boys and girl students in grades 5-12. The corps numbered 120 cadets in the 2005-2006 school year. Most of the students are boarding students but some attend as day students. Younger cadets sleep in rooms with one roommate without a door but older students rooms have doors. It was formerly a boys school but became co-educational in 2001.("Howe-Military")
